Design engineer (EFZ) in training

With your support, visions become reality!

Design engineers are at home in the MEM industry. The mechanical and electrical engineering industries are diverse and global in their outlook. After their four-year training, they work primarily in the mechanical and electrical engineering industries. But not only: they are also sought-after professionals in engineering firms or public administrations.

What a design engineer does

Design Engineers work with engineers to turn ideas into products for everyday use. They design individual parts and assemblies for devices and production facilities. They create the design drawings on the computer and develop technical documents.

We support our apprentices in their desire to additionally complete the BMS. The successfully completed vocational baccalaureate entitles the holder to enter a university of applied sciences without taking an entrance exam and to study a relevant subject.

Who will be guiding you through your training in design engineering?

Portrait of the trainer
André Bisig, vocational trainer in design engineering

I'm André Bisig, born on 22 December 1985, and I'm passionate about everything to do with technology.

I have been working in the field of design and mechanics at STEINEL Solutions since 2008, with my main responsibilities being in the design and creation of equipment and the development of housings for electronics.

I started at STEINEL as a "design engineer EFZ in training", since 2016 I have been a "graduate technician HF mechanical engineering - technical school HF Zurich" and now I am responsible for vocational training in design. I enjoy working in a team and I really like the variety between design, administration and mechanical or assembly work.

I enjoy spending my free time with friends, doing a wide range of activities on our family's alp, outdoor sports, eating and riding motorbikes – and my interest in technology is not neglected either!
